I am 10 days post op. I have been doing really well on soft foods. Today at lunch i had some shrimp. It hurt for about 7 minutes. Then i got the hiccups. It's been about 7 hours. I ate some warn Soup and it's a little sore. Should i be worried? And no i won't be doing that again!

I'm at the same stage as you and was told to try shrimp and tender white fish. It went down just fine for me, I wouldn't worry too much. Usually they say if something doesn't work well, to switch to liquid for at least half a day to help the stomach recoup. If the pain persists definitely contact your surgeon/nutritionist. Maybe you just need a bit more time before your ready for it again :)

I found shrimp to be very dense at first.

10 days out and your stomach and staple line are still very vulnerable to being irritated. I would think shrimp would be dense. If your doc ok'd fish, I'd stick to something that breaks down very easily (i.e.- Tilapia). I am 2.5 weeks post-op and still have issues with pureed food, so I would just take it slow.

I think I did one at 3 weeks and puked it right up. Too dense.

Wait a month. I will tell you cocktail shrimp at mo th 2 became a staple of my Snacks. I would buy a half a pound sunday and it would last me days.
