Good news, we are home! She's still a little nauseated but able to eat a little bit. She's not eating or drinking much so they have set up home health to continue IV nutrition for a bit. We are super glad to be home!

Thanks everyone! Our first full day home and she's doing well. She's still on TPN (IV nutrients) and eating a few bites a day. They say once she can get up to eating 800 calories, she can be taken off the TPN.

Since she's 6 weeks out from the sleeve, she can eat regular foods. We're taking that slow though, I don't want to risk more nausea.

Does introducing different foods sometimes cause nausea and/or stomach weirdness in normal sleeve patients? I think she's scared to eat much for fear of bringing back the nausea and vomiting full time. Should she expect some sort of discomfort while eating?

So glad her recovery is continuing to be positive.

Absolutely, yes just like introducing a a baby to new foods you should only do one new food at a time.

I would try creamed Soups first, maybe mashed potatoes or mashed sweet potato, yogurt. Since her stomach isn't used to having solids I would work up to it over the next several days. Scrambled eggs, meatballs, crab legs and tuna salad we're some of my first soft foods that I tolerated well.

Think moist! Wet scrambled eggs with cheese, meatballs with Tomato sauce or gravy. Makes it go down easier.

I completely agree with @@ShellMilliner . Soft foods that are pureed to a baby food like consistency and then slowly progress to chunkier foods. Keep them moist and remind her to chew until they dissolve in her mouth and eat slooooooowwwwwly.

One word of caution with eggs. They seem to be one of those take it or leave it foods. Some people get on swimmingly with them, others have to postpone eating them for a bit. I made mine by taking one egg, a tsp of plain greek yogurt and a bit of shredded cheese. I then cooked them in a no stick pan, stirring frequently to keep them soft & moist. My first egg was the best food I had ever eaten! :)

Glad to hear she is doing well. Just remind her to eat nice and slow and she should do fine.

I agree with the others. Stick to soft foods for now and Soups. Keep us posted on her recovery

Thanks all. We're sticking to bland, soft foods for now. Unfortunately, the nausea started creeping back yesterday and is worse again today. This setback is depressing. We were so happy and hopeful. She does still have a stent in which gets removed Tuesday so I'm holding out hope that once that is gone then the nausea will be gone too.

The IV nutrition is keeping her hydrated and nourished so that's what we're concentrating on for now.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you!

And we're back to full on nausea and vomiting. She didn't eat yesterday at all due to the nausea. The vomiting is bile. Yes, she's still taking anti-nausea and Prilosec. :(

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
