ssourgirl 151 Posted May 18, 2015 Yes, she's not taking pain meds anymore. And she can't keep any Protein Shake down. Ugh.
phatfatgirl 100 Posted May 18, 2015 Protein Shake may be too thick for her. Start very lite like broth.
LSF 264 Posted May 21, 2015 @ssourgirl- I saw my surgeon today and briefly mentioned your daughters situation. He thought it sounded like she has "structure"? - meaning that her sleeve just might be too tight. I haven't seen you post in a couple of days, I hope everything is ok. He did say that as her swelling goes down , she will feel better but I'm wondering if the vomiting is stopping the swelling from going down
ssourgirl 151 Posted May 21, 2015 @@LSF thanks so much for asking your surgeon!! They did check her sleeve and everything looked "normal" to them and the other bariatric surgeons he consulted. Honestly, I'm thinking more and more that this was the kidney stone all along. Or a combination of both going on at the same time. Or it's been an incredible coincidence that once they finally resolved the stone, the nausea started going away. Now, it's pretty much completely gone. The last 3 days she's been able to eat and drink pretty well. She's still not able to get full Protein and liquids but it's a far cry from the constant nausea and vomiting she had been experiencing. She even went to the park yesterday with her friends yesterday and didn't need her constant accessory, the blue barf bag! Yay for miracles!
gettingtothenewme 11 Posted May 21, 2015 They should have prescribed zofran to crush and take as prescribed.
ssourgirl 151 Posted May 22, 2015 They should have prescribed zofran to crush and take as prescribed. She was on Zofran, Phenergan and other anti-emetic none of which worked. She suffered for almost 4 weeks before she was admitted to the hospital . IV Zofran and IV Phenergan around the clock did nothing.

ssourgirl 151 Posted June 26, 2015 So sorry guys! I haven't gotten any emails that there were posts on here. I wonder why? I apologize for not checking back in sooner! My daughter is not doing much better. The nausea is totally gone and she's able to eat and drink just fine. She's lost a total of 50 lbs since surgery. I think she was hoping for more by now but I think her body's metabolism is recovering. During her 3 weeks in the hospital on IV fluids only, she didn't lose any weight at all. Then as she was on TPN at home (nutrients through a PICC line to her heart, similar to an IV) she slowly started losing again. She was on TPN for about 10 days then on solid foods gradually. She's pretty much tolerating everything now except Protein. She's had a stall in weight loss the past couple of weeks though. She can't stomach any of the shakes, powders etc. we've tried. Thanks again to all of you who've helped me through this and for all of you who are still commenting.
