Could it possibly be something environmental?

So sorry to hear this. Unfortunately for some sleeve patients extreme nausea is indeed an issue due to nothing other than luck of the draw. Hopefully this is not the issue for her.

No, I don't think so. It was happening here and at the hospital too.

Yeah, but she did get better at the hospital... and then it flared up again after you got back home.

????bummer. Can they go back in to look at her sleeve? So much for the kidney stone being the culprit

She was in the hospital for 2.5 weeks before it got better. It only got better after the kidney stone was removed. This is what makes me think it has to do with the stent that is still in her ureter.

@@LSF they did a scope in the hospital and there is nothing physically wrong with the sleeve. The bariatric surgeon says it's rare but it does happen where there is severe nausea and vomiting for an unknown period of time with no issues with the sleeve. He and the GI Specialist both say it happens and then it goes away. What they can't tell us is how long it may last and what the cause of it is.

Hmm. That's so strange. I'm going for a follow up next week with my surgeon, if I remember, I'll try to mention your story- I would like to get his feedback.

Unfortunately the nausea and vomiting continues. She had the stent removed this morning. I'm still holding out hope that she will be better tomorrow.

@@LSF thank you. If you remember, I sure would like to see what he says.

I'm curious to see what my surgeon says. We are in Massachusetts and his views are so different than some other surgeons. He does not require a pre-op liquid diet and his post op diet progresses a little quicker than others. He did my band in 2008 and I only wanted to go to him for my revision. I followed him to his new practice last year.

@@ssourgirl How are you both doing? I'm crossing my fingers there's been some improvement, but I'm worried since you didn't check in yesterday or today.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
