newbeginning77 26 Posted May 1, 2015 @@BLERDgirl according to the doctor, she had some antibiotic resistant e-coli in her urine and an apparent UTI or Kidney infection that also might be resistant so this is the only antibiotic they can use and it doesn't come in IV. I find it hard to believe there isn't and IV medication for this. That has probably been her problem all this time and they should have found this sooner instead of worrying about a psychiatrist. My sister had a big kidney stone a few months ago that was too big to pass and they waited so long to try to take it out she developed high blood pressure her kidney function dropped real low and she also had a ecoli infection. She had to do home IV therapy for her antibiotics. Usually the resistant infections are treated through IV. Hope they get that stone out soon so she can finally recover. You guys are in my prayers.keep pushin those doctors to get that stone out.
ssourgirl 151 Posted May 1, 2015 @@newbeginning77 possibly the e-coli but they're saying that just started because of the antibiotics she got last week. Not uncommon. They've set the date to go back in and get the stone for Thurdsay morning. I guess that means we're in the hospital until at least next week.
LSF 264 Posted May 2, 2015 I hope she's feeling better for the next 6 days while she awaits the surgery
ssourgirl 151 Posted May 4, 2015 @@LSF Thanks, LSF. Unfortunately she's still feeling horrible and has been vomiting/dry heaving around the clock. It's worse at night so she gets to bed around 3am most nights then she's up every hour or two. They still haven't started TPN Nutrients although they put the PICC line in yesterday morning. I don't understand why it's taking them so long to get them started. So she's almost gone 6 weeks without any nutrients at all except the IV fluids. She's weak, exhausted, constantly on the verge of vomiting, not sleeping well and today the bariatric surgeon had the gall to ask why she was asleep at 11:30am. Really?? LSF 264 Posted May 4, 2015 I would probably be so hysterical that they would have to sedate me. My concern is how she feels after the stone - I hope this is really the cause
ssourgirl 151 Posted May 4, 2015 I would probably be so hysterical that they would have to sedate me. Yes, except you have to be careful they don't then blame the nausea and vomiting on the hysteria or "anxiety." They've tried that already!

LSF 264 Posted May 6, 2015 How was she today? Is the surgery still happening on Thursday?
ssourgirl 151 Posted May 6, 2015 @@LSF Thanks for checking on her! They started her on IV nutrition last night (TPN.) She'd been vomiting over 20 times a day but so far, for some reason she's actually feeling better today! She is less nauseated and she's not vomited in over 24 hours. She was even able to sip some liquids today. They're baffled why the TPN would help with the nausea. I'm baffled why it took them so long to give them to her! We've been here 15 days, day 16 today. Yes, the surgery is scheduled for Thursday and we can possibly go home on Friday depending on how she's doing. We can do the TPN IV at home until she is able to start eating on her own.
