I'm cutting up my pantoprazole or taking apart my ompeprazole but both make me gag. I had reflux before so going off it wouldn't be good idea.

I think the OTC prilosec comes in capsules that you could take apart and mix in apple sauce but you might need a few of them to equal the prescription strength

No whole pills for me yet. I was told to crush or take apart if it is a capsule. So really only looking to see if a truly chewable version existed

Make sure you check with your doctor before crushing or cutting up pills. Some of them, including OTC Prilosec tablets cannot be crushed. Their special coating must remain intact or stomach acid will inactivate them. How far out are you and when can you take whole pills? Have you discussed the issue with your surgeon? If you are suffering from reflux and have a hard time with taking your PPI, you may try Rolaids or liquid Maaloxx for some relief.

Everything I have is crushable. I made sure prior. It's not trouble taking it. It is nasty and it's hard not to gag on the taste

How long until you are able to swallow them? You may just have to bite the bullet until then.

When I had lapband in I had to do that with Metformin, which tastes HORRIBLE. I just swallowed it and brushed my teeth to get rid of the taste. I literally took it in the bathroom, chewed a few times to swallow with a sip of Water, and immediately brushed my teeth LOL! It is only nasty for a minute.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
