My doctor had me fill all my scrips before surgery so they would be ready for me to come home. I have antacid to prevent ulcers, anti nausea meds and pain meds to be taken as needed.

Hello everyone

Well I had my surgery on April 3rd and returned home Monday. I was not ready to leave. I had a private room, close to the nurses desk and very nice nurses and aides. I was in a lot of pain. I burped a lot and finally had gas bubbles. And some small amount of BM. I haven't had any gas pains thank goodness.

Yeah I do have a lot of soreness the hole from the drain (it was removed a couple days before I was discharged). I stopped taking my pain med because I my have to drive myself to my first appointment. Not a good idea. Also the area that the drain lead from very sore. I have an incision on my right side and a hole where the drain was placed. I have an incision under my left breast mid way on my left side, to the lower right of that incision is the last.

I don't get that feeling of "I can only eat a spoon full'I don't have a problem with drinking Water and when I drink my Protein shake, I feel like I could drink the whole container. I just monitor myself to only drink half. I hope this surgery(rny) is the tool I need and it is successful for me.

I hope everyone have a successful surgery and a speedy recovery.

Hi everyone. My operation was on Apr 8th. Time has crawled by while I go through recovery. Am struggling to get enough Water in. I can only sip. Gulping a whole mouthful hurts instantly. Am weak, achey and glad to be alive, home, in a comfortable bed and talking to you guys. I can't wait to get back to my old life. Tell me about yourselves.

Hey Magic Mojo

So glad you're at home. I am so sorry that You're struggling with the Water part of recovery. I went through the surgery and now going through the recovery. A lot of people say they can hardly drink they Water or eat their food. I don't have that problem. I got mixed up and ate a scramble egg and applesauce (I'll let the doctor know tomorrow) but I did't have any problems. I can drink water and stop half way just because I know I need to monitor my intake. I wonder if my surgery was a success not sick at all. Now when I came home I had got all my medicine except for my narcotics. I got it filled before I left the hospital

Hopefully,we will feel better very soon

Everything went really well. I just loved all the people who took such good care of me. They were on me like a wet suit. I felt very loved.

Getting home was more of the same with my husband and adult son trying to do everything they could to help me. I did miss the morphine on demand! But I quickly figured out that I wanted a compression band around my tummy until more healing took place. My husband found a back brace that I wore backwards. That helped with the pain a whole lot. By day three I was sleeping better. At day 4 I went for a whole block and am now back brace free. Which is a relief because that thing had a funky plastic smell. Don't get me started on funky smells! OMG! What a relief to go outside! Wysteria! Cherry blossoms. It is all so beautiful.

I look forward to feeling better and better. Am actually kind of a bit hungry right now. Amazed!

Hi all!

I had my surgery on April 8th. I am feeling amazing already!!! I had a three-day hospital stay (came home on Friday April 10). I've been working on getting my Protein in and drinking Water. Right now I am having a Protein Shake each morning for Breakfast, 1/4 cup Protein (moist/soft meat) for lunch and dinner. I have one "snack" of string cheese once a day as well.

It was impossible to get the full amount of food in until yesterday. As I type, I'm eating my lunch of imitation crab meat mixed with a little mayo. So good.

I found an awesome tasting protein power. It's strawberry shortcake favored! This definitely helps the drink go down in the morning.

I'm looking for some additional ideas for meals. Please share what you have enjoyed post-surgery. I'm worried if I don't get some variety soon, I'll get real bored!

I'm looking forward to see how well things keep progressing!

Good luck to you all!!!

Hello!

I hope everyone will have a great surgery.

How was your surgery?

Recovery has been rough. Surgery was okay, Doc found a few tumors on my bowels and he's currently checking to see if they're cancerous.

I'm walking well, and getting up n down is ok but getting my Water in is difficult. I'm in pain mostly at night but I'm great through the day.

It's a process n I'm taking it one day at a time.

Thanks for asking!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
