@kalesWifey glad your doing good. I'm on soft foods now. I don't really get hungry which is strange for me .lol. I think I'm losing inches more than weight. Clothing is looser but the scale is moving slower than I think it should. I'm feeling good.:-)

Here's one of my favorite recipes I was telling everyone about:

Magic Crust Quiche

Ingredients

2 cups 1% Lowfat Milk

1/2 cup All-purpose flour

5 large Eggland’s Best eggs

3 slices Sargento 2% Reduced Fat Pepper Jack cheese slices (cut or torn into small pieces)

3 slices Sargento 2% Reduced Fat Swiss cheese slices (cut or torn into small pieces)

1/2 cup Sargento Sharp Cheddar 2% Reduced Fat Cheese shreds

7 oz. Grilled chicken tenders diced small

1/4 cup Cooked red bell pepper diced small

1/4 cup Cooked Vidalia or sweet onion diced small

Preheat oven to 350˚. In a blender or NutriBullet, mix eggs, milk and flour until blended, season with salt, pepper or whatever you’d like. Pour into a bowl and add all cheeses, cooked veggies and cooked meat. Stir to combine and then pour into an 8”x8” or 9”x9” square glass dish. Bake for 60 minutes. Let stand 5-10 before serving. You can add whatever cheeses, veggies or meats suit your taste. The small amount of flour firms up the sides and bottom making the “magic crust” while saving tons of calories. The Nutrition Facts are based on recipe above. FYI - the heavier meats, ie. ground beef tend to fall to the bottom. Serving size is approximately 2”x2 1/2”

Anyone having trouble eating? I tried eating scramble eggs today & felt horrible after. I don't really get hungry but I know I need to eat some Protein and calories. I guess it's back to greek yogurt for tonight.

@@MichelleTN Hey there, I too started moist Proteins today, I came home and straight away made 1 scrambled egg with a little bit of shredded cheese. I ate really slow, no drink and managed 3/4 noticed I was getting full. Stopped. dinner I made a 5oz chicken breast and ate probably 2oz. Try it again, make it really moist and just go as slow as you can.

OK so I'm learning that every day is a challenge! Made scrambled eggs, one sausage link and iced coffee, about 3oz of coffee (which was approved by my nut). I'm struggling to get more than one bite of sausage and two of eggs in. I'll put it in the micro and try again... I believe it has to be starting off slowly and retraining our body to eat solids again. I just went thru 4 weeks of liquid and I feel this may be my issue... I tested this out last night by eating half of a sugar free pudding and it was fine. I'll give myself a week to adjust before I contact my surgeons office and find ways to make it even more moist.

the first time I tried eggs I didn't feel very well afterwards either. I waited a few days and tried them again and it was better. I was doing OK at that time with cottage cheese, cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, but eggs somehow didn't go over very well. Now I can eat all of those.

Hey guys. Check out FoodCoach.me. Step Wagner on YouTube, and she has a blog. I found her on Pinterest.

She gave me this tip for post op WLS: no bite should be bigger than a black bean. WOW! that is tiny! I use baby food spoons, small dishes and put down the spoon/dish between bites. Also, I looked up Pyloric Sphincter and Gastric Bypass. Turns out that this valve closes up and causes that backed up feeling that hurts (and makes you feel like throwing up if it is bad enough) To prevent that eat very wet food. I read "Soup". Eat seriously slow and small bites. Do not drink anything with your meal. The valve will let the liquid through but not the solids. Also stay calm and relax, that helps your valve relax.

I have often made food for my family, high grades the meat and some of the veggie (70% protein/30% veggie) and blended it lightly. No pain, not really yummy either. But I am no longer eating for entertainment or pleasure. Food is nutrition now, not my substance of abuse.

Also I am only allowed 2 oz of food per meal, 3x per day and 2 Snacks (string cheese, V8, etc.)

This is hard and can be painful and sometimes a bummer. But once your energy starts kicking in again you will feel much better. It helps if you learn to feed yourself without pain and struggle.

My surgeon's guidelines for eating are different. I'm only to eat about once a day maybe twice, and only if I'm truly hungry. Not because others are eating, not because I think I should eat. I only eat if I get a slight headache or after I've gotten in a heavy workout so that I don't feel sick later.

Some favorites I eat: soft chicken (grilled or baked), Wendy's chilli, chicken or sofritas + black Beans and guac from Chipotle, casseroles with ground meat and lots of cheese, refried Beans mixed with ground turkey and cheese, baked ricotta with meat sauce etc. Mostly soft foods, but I keep everything very moist and chew. I'm not allowed many vegetables yet, but I've tolerated fruits really well so far. I've had strawberries, blueberries, watermelon and banana with no problems.

I've also had tart/plain and no sugar added lowfat and fat free frozen yogurt, which I also tolerate really well.

Back at work, back in the gym and down 26 lbs since surgery and 54 lbs overall.

My Nut has me eating every 3-4 hours, right now two Protein Shakes, 4-6 oz. and then two meals of soft Protein, I usually have Greek yogurt, turkey chili, tuna or canned chicken with miracle whip, re fried Beans with cheese are a few things I do. Going to NUT appointment tomorrow I'm hoping to be moved to next phase which includes some grains and fruit/veggies. My surgery date was 4/20. So far down 27lbs. Post op!! ????

Sorry to hear some of you girls are having a difficult time with the eggs. I'm not much of a scrambled egg fan. I find them to be dry and tasteless. That's probably why I love eating my quiche because it's super moist. I'm still switching up the different meats and seasonings in my Magic Crust Quiche recipe to have a variety of flavors. I just find it a complete balanced meal that provides me with 12 grams of Protein and I haven't had a single issue with swallowing the delicious 2" x 2 1/2" piece at each of my meals. It takes a lil awhile to prep and an hour to cook but once that's behind you, you're left with 12 servings. The best part is I can make meals for my hubby and son and my meal takes only 1 min 10 sec in the microwave and it's ready!!! I love reading what everyone's doctor or centers. Here are the guidelines I was given at mayo for my days 15-60:

Stage 3: Mechanically Altered Diet (day 15-60 after surgery)

The Stage 3 diet includes small, distinct pieces of tender and easily chewed food that is low in fat and sugar. The meat must be ground or flaked and other foods must be chopped or diced into small pieces.

Amount: 1/2 to 1/3 cup per meal

Recommended foods:

Soups: broth, bouillon, low-fat cream Soup

Liquids: Water, non-calorie, non-carbonated, caffeine-free beverages

Meats & Meat substitutes: Ground lean poultry; flaked fish; eggs; low-fat cottage cheese, low-fat cheese; casseroles made with ground meat and soft coked vegetables without hulls or tough skins

Milk: Skim or 1% milk, sugar-free, low-fat yogurt without fruits, nuts or seeds

Starches: Cooked, refined, dry cereal; potatoes (without skin)

Vegetables: Soft cooked vegetables without hulls or tough skin; vegetable juice

Fruits: Unsweetened, cooked or canned fruits, bananas, tender melon, ripe peaches or pears. All fruits without seeds or skins

Other: Sugar-free gelatins or popsicles; sugar-free, low-fat frozen yogurt, custard and pudding (without nuts)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
