I'm 2 days post op and I have a headache in my temples, behind my eyes and in my neck. Is this normal?

Hi there- I have them too. They are getting milder though as each day passes. The nurse told me it could be the pain meds. I am three days post op today.

My disclaimer here is I have Migraines, narcotics are also a Migraine trigger for me. My surgery date was Feb 2nd. I get my migraines around my cycle. Guess when my cycle was? If you guessed just before surgery, you'd be correct. I had a migraine the morning I was admitted for surgery, Unfortunately the surgeon couldn't change my pain meds for surgery, so I had my migraine for an extra 2days. As soon as came home I stopped the hydro and let the migraine run it's course before resuming it for a few days. Ask your surgeon or nurse practioner if there is another pain med that you could take instead that might be less of a headache trigger. Some people have some success with tramadol/ultram, but it might not be best used in this case. And it triggers migraines with me after one dose

I had a massive headache in my neck and the back of my head post op in the hospital. I was absoluetly miserable. I thought it was the anesthesia ( I didn't take any pain meds. )But it turned out that it was from strain. I think when they strapped my shoulders down for the surgery, and then with the crappy hospital pillows, my neck got so strained it was killing me. The same day I got home I put a heating pad on my neck and the back of my head. OH MY GOSH!! What relief. I did that for the next couple of days and it took care of it. Honestly, it was the most miserable I have ever felt. You could try a heating pad and see if it helps. It certainly can't hurt, Best wishes.

Oh I'm so glad to see I'm not the only one lol. Mine are getting better thank goodness. I'm doing pretty well, just hurts in one section of my tummy when I stand or sit up straight. I'm ready for soft foods that's for sure! I'm losing about 1.4 pounds a day so I'm stoked!

I'm so glad I found this ! I had sleeve to MGB on Thursday and I would feel great except I can't kick these headaches ! At first I thought stiff neck (which has given me many in the past) from all the travel ( Mexico ) and surgery and hospital bed. Then I thought maybe the aspartame from sugar free Jello and Popsicles since Iv completely avoided artificial sweeteners the last two years, but really I don't care, I just want them gone !! They are the only reason I'm still taking any pain meds :(

I had the same problem. Really annoying constant headache.

I found that it stopped once I quit the anti nausea meds (saw that headache was listed as possible side effect) and switched to plain liquid tylenol for pain.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
