I was banded at Stanford University Medical Center on 3/19/07. I was severely depressed for about a week after. I was on liquids for several weeks and hungry. I lost 28 pounds. I know I have gained from that amount now. I have had one adjustment, but it didn't seem to make a lot of difference. I am having trouble in the evenings (and some serious family issues, which are not helping), but today, I am determined to start over--no more sugar-lots more Protein. Does anyone have any advice?:help:

Hi Clever, and welcome. I'm sorry to hear about your depression, and all the issues happening for you right now.

You want advice? I guess for a start, stick to the bandster rules. And my second tip would be to hang out here on LBT. This is a great place for advice and support. It will be good to know that you're probably not the only one dealing with some of these issues.

Keep posting, let us get to know you!

hi Clever

i Am Sorry To Hear About Your Depression. I'm Glad That You Have Decided To Start Over. Like Alot Of Us Out There, Depression Is A Huge Problem. I Guess That Is The Part That Scares Me The Most About Being Banded(which I Hope Is Soon). I Am On Anti Depressents And I Worry About How I Am Going To Feel Mentally After Surgery. I Am Trying To Stay Positive, But It Is Tough Especially When I Am Stressed Out Already, Nervous, And A Little Scared About Getting Banded. I Continue To Read All Of These Posts, Because They Are What Keeps Me Going. I Know That After I Am Banded I Will Be Here Alot For The Awesome Support That Is Given Here. My Advice Is To Seek Comfort Here When You Are Feeling Depressed. I Know That That Is What I Am Going To Do. I Know All Of You Will Be Here For Me When It Is My Turn. Clever, I Hope That Things Get Better For You. Keep Your Chin Up And Head Held High. You Will Get Through This.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
