I am 6 days out. I had no pain and very little gas. Second day all IVs and catherer were removed. So I guess I am one of the very lucky ones. I still have my drain tube which makes me feel like I'm still a patient. No diabetic meds or anything except my flintstones chewable and my Coumadin. My problem is I am so confused what and how much to eat. I was drinking Premier Protein drinks but realized I was trying to drink all of it. I have since learned that one bottle can be split into several servings. Creamed Soups and Jello fill in between the Protein. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to spread my protein out better?

Day three post op as well. The gas is still giving discomfort. However, I can feel it moving around in there now., so I am hoping it will start to exit. I had a little poop accident earlier today when I though I needed to fart, so I know things are working. Each day gets a bit better. Just have this gas ball in the middle of my back that needs to be relieved. liquids going well, so far no nausea. I am walking a lot and that helps too.

This happened to me yesterday. I was leaving the hospital and waiting and tried to pass gas. OMG, this is not gas, better get to the bathroom! Sad part was I didn't even have anyone to tell. I was so excited that I went poop.; ) Oh boy.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
