Any post-op sleevers that have a confirmed diagnosis of vasovagal syncope? Mine was confirmed via several test, but the final was the tilt table test. I'm wondering if anyone with this condition had experienced any change since being sleeved. I'm in week three of post-op, and this thought just occurred to me after reading a few posts of people passing out.

Do you have neurocardiogenic syncope? And did you have it pre-op, or do you mean it started since surgery? I do know someone with a sleeve who had NCS pre-op, but just trying to understand what you are dealing with.

I am a 6 mo. post-op sleever and had vasovagal attacks twice since surgery but never before. Both times I had overeaten by just a small amount or eaten too fast, and I fainted. I am much more careful with my eating habits now and so far haven't had an attack in a couple of months.

@MichiganChic. Yes, vasovagal syncope is the same thing as neurocardiogenic syncope. It occurs in response to a trigger, with a corresponding malfunction in the Vagus nerve which regulates heart rate and blood pressure. When heart rate slows, blood pressure drops, and the resulting lack of blood to the brain causes fainting. Folks who are diagnosed with this are confirmed by what's called a "tilt table" test. A positive result is achieved when the individual essentially flatlines on the tilt table. While the tilt table test can be horrifying, the condition itself is really not hard to live with once one is aware of it and knows how to handle.

I was diagnosed with this several years ago (pre sleeve). I'm just wondering if there are others with WLS with the same condition who have experienced any changes post WLS ... better, worse, unchanged...?

@LovinSoul. Have you been positively diagnosed with this a neurocardiogenic condition?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
