Wondered when it would come "ONEDERLAND"

Recommended Posts

I am a year and 7 months out and I have been struggling with getting to the goal. I have not given up but I have picked up bad habits again. I have been going through some stressful things and I found that when I am stressed out I turn to my security blanket of "potato chips". It has made me feel like I was feeling better as I ate the bag of crunchy goodness. I paid for that goodness by the scale not moving or going up in number. Well I got my head together and got focused. Well it happened and I am now 198.2 pounds and I am so excited. It made me feel so good that I joined the healthclub to really put in the work. I am still trying to figure out how to deal with the stress and not go to the chips. So I started at 323 and now 198.2, 48 pounds from my goal. I AM DANCING!!!!!!!!!!! :) :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Congratulations! Sounds like you are back on track and making some good choices to work off those last pounds. A lot of people say that exercise helps them cope with stress, so maybe that can be your new go-to instead of the potato chips. Worth a shot at least!

Thanks, that is my plan to go when I get off work and by the time I get home I can go to bed and leave the stress on the machines.

YESSSS – congratulations!!!! That's a grea accomplishment!!! Now about those chips..... Try replacing them with nuts, Jerky, cheese, meats, or yogurt. As long as you're not consuming any "bad" carbs or sweets, I find that you don't have to worry about fat and calories. So a handful of nuts is a great snack! Keep it up!!!

Congrats on hitting onerland!

I'm in a class with the psychiatrist at my surgeon's office that helps build good skills post op and we're reading a book that provides all sorts of tools to deal with emotional eating. The book is called Eat Q and I don't normally like self help type of books but this one is really good and I'm seeing positive changes in my ability to control snacking.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
