Thank you all for your words of encouragement! I am now home since yesterday afternoon.

Surgery was performed on Monday at 3 p.m. I was quite dizzy when I woke up from anastesia at 5:10 p.m. I stayed in recovery room until 8:30 p.m. and was then transferred up to the floor. After my first night in hospital, they were ready to send home because I was doing great. I refused and asked to stay one more night. Because I had not slept well the first night (noisy roommate) I slept like a baby the second night from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. The nurse decided not to wake me up to give me meds........big mistake. I woke up and felt really depressed. I was in lots of pain. I took the meds and walked around for approx 10 minutes and went back to bed. Woke up 1.5 hours later and felt much better. Since then.....OMG, it sounds like there is a storm brewing in my belly. The sounds that are coming from there are even scaring my dog. I have been letting them out as much as I can and it helps...

Today, the pain is minimal and I feel great. I started drinking the Protein shakes and resting some more while walking for 10 minutes every few hours.

Hope you are all doing fine.....This new life is promising!!

Hooray @@Tintin! So glad to hear from you and welcome to the other side :P. Those tummy noises are crazy aren't they?! I'm relieved to say mine have calmed down after a few weeks.

Sounds like you are doing fantastic!

Enjoy all the sipping of liquids (I felt like a fish for all the sipping the first two weeks) and it's great to hear that you're up and about able to walk around :)

Keep us posted!

Hey all! I'm doing great.

Had my 3 week out stall so decided it was a great time to up my steps a day. I've been working on surpassing 8,000 steps/day. I've noticed my daily calories increase to about 900, am going to check in with the dietician because I don't have the group class till May 20th. My two months off work is coming to an end!

How's everyone else doing?

Hi everyone. I'm doing fine. I was back in the hospital for a few days due to dehydration. Not fun. But doing better now. Back to work on Monday. I'm finding it difficult to get lots of Water and Protein in. I feel like I am constantly eating or drinking.

Hello everyone.......sorry about not keeping in touch, I've been back in hospital for a week.

Had my surgery on Monday, April 13th and was discharged in the morning of the 15th (Wed). I was doing great until the Friday afternoon. I started to have VERY frequent diarrhea and a fever. By 11 p.m., my wife decided to wake up the children and to go to ER at the Civic.

The staff at the Civic were amazing. I was taken care of right away. Unfortunately, after doing a bunch of tests, they told me that I had caught the C DIFFICILE virus and that I needed to be admitted. I was in the hospital for a total of 6 days.

I was then sent home with some meds to take 3 times/day. I have been doing better everyday but feeling tired.

According to my follow up a few days ago with the NP at the WMC, everything is great. Can't wait to attend the class!

Very happy to hear that everyone is doing well.

@JCMO: I understand and feel the same way. After the surgery, I find that my taste buds have not been the same. The taste of the Protein was not good. I finally found a recipe that works for me, however, it seems that I am drinking ALL day long. It will get better I am sure.

@@anewme15, I am doing much better. I seems like I can better tolerate the Protein shakes. Still working on trying to drink a bit more. It was my first day back at work yesterday and I decided to do only 4 to 5 hours per day this week.

I have my first WMC class next week and cannot wait to meet other people who have gone through the same thing.

Have a good day everyone!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
