@@Tintin I lost 24 pounds, but admittedly some of that was weight I put on in the weeks leading up to the start of it. I had probably a few too many 'food funerals'.

Great job with the weight loss so far! It's a helpful motivator when the Optifast is tough to do.

You are all encouraging!! If I lose over 20 pounds before the surgery, I will more than happy.

20 pounds was my goal! After the first week or so I lost weight at about a pound every other day.

You can do it!

How is everyone making out? I am headed back to work on Monday. I can't wait to get back into a regular routine. I must say though, you really do need a bit of time to figure out how to time food, Water, Vitamins, etc. I am feeling really good myself.

I am doing great so far. I started my second week of Optifast on Monday and I still feel hungry at times. However, as soon as I take another shake, I am fine. Jello and broth are still on the menu every day. I have now lost 13 pounds and feeling GREAT! Can't believe its really happening.....and fast.

Glad to hear you are doing well and going back to work and your regular routine. Kudos to you! You're done...

@@anewme15 how are you doing?

That's really exciting to hear @@Tintin ! Keep up the great work!

I'm a week post op and don't think I could be doing any better. I'm going for 10 minute walks throughout the day and am off all pain meds. Yogurt and cottage cheese have never before brought so much joy into my life, hooray for starting food again!

Hi, I'm doing good. Going for a scope as I have a bit of mucus in my throat when I wake up in the morning. Dr. Says it will not delay my surgery.

Up to now, my family members (apart from my wife and children) were not aware of my surgery. Because 2 of them are coming to our house tomorrow for Easter dinner and I will not be able to eat (except for broth and Optifast) I decided to write them all an email and let them know.

One of my family member wrote back telling me that he admired my courage. Still waiting for the others to reply.

I hope the rest of your family is as supportive as this one @tintin. From my experience everyone that I told about the surgery was supportive, but reading about some people's experiences on here I realize it isn't always so positive.

I hope you have a wonderful Easter even with the Optifast at your side ;)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
