kathousefl 62 Posted March 25, 2015 Hi everyone, I lurk on this site once in a while, but I have not posted much. I was wondering if anyone out there decided to have skin removal surgery after his or her weight loss. Why or why not? If you did have the surgery ... did your insurance cover it? was it painful? what was the recuperation time for you? Thanks :-).
Julie norton 2,850 Posted March 25, 2015 (edited) I will respond kar..... You may find a lot of plastics stories on this site... I had a TT w/ plication 2 weeks ago yesterday. After 8 years of being where I need to be weight wise after surgery. I considered it a luxury???? It was not for the faint of heart. But does get way better after about 10 days Haven't seen this flat of a stomach since my 20's. Pre babies. I feel better and my clothes fit well At 60 ... I wasn't looking for sexy???? (My insurance did not cover it) Edited March 25, 2015 by Julie norton
jacileggs 402 Posted March 25, 2015 (edited) I have been approved for panniculectomy. It is covered by my provincial health care plan here in Alberta. So it won't cost me anything. Don't have a date yet though. I too am interested in people's experiences with plastics. Edited March 25, 2015 by jacileggs
horsegirl315 114 Posted March 26, 2015 I plan on it. I have not had kids yet so I will wait. 2 birds one stone lol. But for right now it's something I can cover up for the most part, some extra skin and definitely still some fat on my lower abdomen. I'm not done losing so unsure of how much will actually be skin later. But I am most definitely getting a breast lift! LAWD!!!

I didn't even think about the clothes fitting part until I read your post and thought, oh no ... I would have to buy new clothes again :-). Eight years a long time. Congratulations on keeping the weight off. Why did you wait for the surgery?

I actually hadn't seriously considered it until my doctor brought it up. My upper arms are actually my biggest issue since the rest can be covered with clothes, although it would be awesome to have the extra skin gone everywhere.
