That sounds like a great alternative to the real thing...and that has far lower calories. Thanks for sharing. :)

Sounds great! One caveat: watch the carbs in "sugar-free", as rarely are they truly free of sugars (as a diabetic I am very familiar with this!!!). It may be just that it has no actual "sugar" in it, but other things that are indeed true sugars (carbs). Also, to improve the taste of SF, a lot of times they will add fat to the product, and other unsavory things to amp up the flavor. I once compared SF caramels to the real thing, and the calories were about the same, and I would have ended up with ALOT more fat... so which do I choose? The real thing, as to me the other stuff is not worth the sacrifice of adding extra fat, when all I want is the real taste of that food, only then I will be satisfied. But today, they are doing great things with new sweeteners, so always just check ALL the sugars in the product, as well as the nasties like fat....

I am ALL FOR new recipes....thanks for the idea!!

I totally agree with @@CanyonBaby and the sweeteners. I too would have the real thing. Although at this stage, I need this type of recipe to have in my arsenal. Thank you!

@@CanyonBaby

I'm also a type one diabetic. Splenda and stevia don't raise my blood sugars. Real sugar I have when my blood sugars are low but I don't make a habit of real sugar. My dietician does our local bariatric cooking classes. She loves to add Protein powder to sugar free pudding recipes.

If I have a sweet tooth...Two bites of this and my craving is over.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
