Yep! :) I don't post much, and read a few posts here and there as time allows, but wanted to just encourage you a bit in knowing there are other guys going through the process with ya. I was banded in April and had my first fill the end of May, so I'm still learnin' the ropes, but things have been going well for me. My wife and I were both banded at the same time, so we are support for each other. I was 388 at my highest, 356 at surgery, and 325 as of yesterday...so far so good. In any case, I hope things are going well with you too. Have a great weekend.

Bestarcher,

Male, female, what does it matter. Males have too much ego and pride. I am sure they are out there but as always will not come forward. Do you need to discuss something? I will help you out if you would like. I am sure that most people whether male or female would love to be able to assist you.

Hi bestarcher-

I think your correct on both accounts. There are a few of us, although I think the ratio of females getting banded to males is about 5 to 1. Just a very unscientific poll (asked my doc). I think ladies, in general, are more inclined to do something about health problems than guys. I also believe women will be more apt to talk about it.

I invite you to join our "guys only" thread going in the general discussion area. We talk about guy stuff.

Good luck!

Bruce

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
