I am a band to sleever. I was banded in 2007. I am one week post op. They removed the band and sleeved me in one surgery. It took about 2 hours. I would also consider myself a slow loser. I need to lose about 100 lbs.

I received my Lapband in 2007 and went from 305 to 185 until last summer. I had many problems with reflux and had a revision surgery. Unfortunately, I had gained back 15ish pounds before surgery. I have now gained a total of 35, back at 220 and depressed beyond measure. Since my surgery, my mom passed away and I it has been extremely hard to adjust. My sister and I had been her caregivers for the 8 years since her stroke. Our lives revolved around her care and now she's gone. I can't seem to get back on track. I also can't see myself going into the doctor one more time as a weight loss failure, after a lifetime of doing so. I am 54 and I think that even makes it harder. I haven't given up, but I am definitely in a funk I need to fight my way out.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
