Pre op? Post op?

Cheated with?

Do you feel ok? Are you planning on changing that behavior?

All you can do is recognize your bad choices, decide that you and your health are worth more than that and move forward.

It's not crazy it will help you adapt after surgery. It's not "fun" but I'm thankful I did the two weeks. I think it helped me prepare, oh and my liver Wasn't fat and in danger during surgery....keep at it.

Every surgeon's requirements are different, but you should stick to YOUR surgeon's rules and not worry about what other people did or didn't have to do.

It really does suck, I hated it too, but if you drink all your Protein drinks and plenty of fluids from here until surgery you will be glad you did. Your surgeon needs your liver to shrink, and also deplete the glycogen, so he will have more room to maneuver during surgery, and it might make your recovery easier. The jumpstart on the weight loss from the liquid diet is probably the only nice thing about it, lol.

It is rly hard, some days are easier some days are tough but it does rly help you after your surgery. Also it's about shrinking your liver for less chance of complications for surgery:) keep going, try and stay positive, you can do it!

Honestly think about it big picture. It's 2 weeks out of the rest of your life that you have to do a liquid diet. Two weeks is such a short amount of time in the grand scheme of things. The end result is WORTH IT, seriously! This might sound harsh but if I'm being honest you gotta just to do it and not give yourself room for excuses. That's what I did for myself to get through it.

@@a_cruzita -Then why not go with a program that gave other options? You signed up for this particular program which means you agreed to the follow their guidelines. Otherwise, what's the point?

No need to beat yourself up over it. Just try to not do it again and if you are finding it really hard to stick to it speak to your doctor. Its not to punish you or get you use to the diet but to get you in good standing health before surgery. If you are having some trouble cause you are really hungry but maybe have head hunger you should try to find an in-town support group before surgery because it does not go away just because you have a smaller stomach. Good luck to you and I'm sure you will do fine. Be strong!

I love this advise! I am on week two of my 5 week preop diet and i had a really hard time the first week. I cheated a couple of times, but i am back on track and doing well. I am not going to beat myself up anymore for cheating but I am not going to do it again!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
