How long were you in there with the therapist? When I was making my appointment today I was told that it would take 1 hr to 1hr 30 minutes. Seems a bit long to be in there talking about myself...eek!

I had mine today and I was in there for 2 hours. But they also wanted to set goals and stuff. Wasn't just two solid hours of me talking about myself.

Mine took one hour. I had to answer a 400-something test, and then I spoke with the person about 15 minutes. It was a breeze. Good luck!

Mine was just under an hour, and I was sent home with some testing materials to do. Easy peasy.

I dunno. Maybe about an hour. I'm chatty. I could talk the paint off walls. I had a short questionnaire that I was given at my first appointment. I filled that out at home and she reviewed it. Then we just chatted.

Mine was maybe 30 minutes total. It varies greatly though.

I was required to have two appointments. Both were 1 hr.

Mine was 30 minutes, and she really was just asking question about my family and their weights, how much support I had around me, and I took a survey (prior to appt.) to determine levels of food addiction.

At the end, she said, "I don't see any reasons why you wouldn't be successful after this surgery." and she gave me the clearance to move forward with it.

Where I live they require you to have 2 visits with the psychologist, 1 hour long. I had my first visit Monday and was about 45 min. She gave me the questioner to take home to do then bring it back the following visit.

If anyone knows of anyone that goes from redding ca to Santa rosa I would like to know because maybe we could drive together. I also found a support group in eureka ca if anyone wants to go.i love the coast so it's worth the drive for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
