So when I was at me pre-op testing last week, my b-12 came back a little low, and the doctor said to start taking a supplement as after surgery it tends to be low as well. So I got the B-12, and on the back it says discontinue use 2 weeks prior to surgery, so I called the office and told them that. They said, if the doctor told you take it, it should be no problem, and we do not tell anyone to discontinue its use, prior to surgery. I still feel weird about taking it. Maybe I will go and get a different brand that does not have this dis-claimer. I bought a generic rite aid blend. Thoughts?

I didn't start taking mine until after surgery but mine wasn't low. You can try something else but I would go with whatever your surgeon says.

It shouldn't be an issue to take before surgery. I have B-12 listed as one of the drugs I take and I have a plastic surgery procedure tomorrow. They told me to stop taking Melatonin, but said nothing about my B-12, so I assume it is fine. I use the Sundown brand, which is made by the same company as Nature's Bounty, and my label does not have any surgical warnings at all.

So I went back for a different bottle and I read the bottles of all the other brand and even Vitamin C said the warning it was on everything !
