JamieLogical 8,726 Posted March 24, 2015 @@JamieLogical Yikes, I don't know if I've ever gotten 100 grams / day in! Wonder if I should worry about that. I'm just over 3 months out. When did your dietitian give you this goal? Maybe I should strive for it as well. I was told 2 Protein supplements/snacks a day + 3 meals where Protein comes first, then veggies. My supplements give me ~40-60 grams per day (depending on which ones I have) and then the other three meals rarely (if ever??) make up 40 more grams, let alone 60 more! How do you do it? Forgot to mention how I get to 100+! Breakfast is a protein bar: 21g Morning snack is a cheese stick: 8g lunch is leftover meat: variable Afternoon snack is greek yogurt & granola: 14g dinner is meat: variable Evening snack is protein shake: 17g So as long as I get 20g at lunch and dinner (sometimes go as low as 16, but as high as 25 depending on what I'm having), then I am close to my 100 per day. VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted March 24, 2015 Thanks for the extra info, jackersducky. You've gotten some great advice already. I like that you're going back to see your surgical / NUT team. That's a great move. It bothers me considerably (more than it should ) that you and your fiance are living with two other people who keep your kitchen a mess. Sounds like it's time to lay down the apartment housekeeping law. Their behavior would be unacceptable to me. Good luck to you on making your environment a safer place to become healthy. Only you know what's required on that front, so I'll not make any other specific suggestions. Best wishes.
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted March 25, 2015 My Doctor and Nutritionist have only ever instructed me to try and eat at least 90 grams of protien a day they have never given me any calorie goals. When you are given instructions you find vague from doctor's and/or medical staff, I find it best to ask for specific examples. Most bariatric programs can provide or at least direct you to where to get sample menus. As for eating during the day. Pack your lunch and Snacks.
