How are you all with eating and drinking? I eat slowly and can tell my tummy says stop after a few bites but with drinking I sip but I'm afraid I sip too fast. I can take a sip about every minute or two and I'm ok. I don't drink a whole lot but im worried I will mess my stomach up. Is it ok to sip every couple minutes or should I wait longer in between? As long as I feel ok do u think it's ok? Maybe I worry too much because I'm still learning.

Did you not get to watch your barium swallow test post-op? If so, you would have seen that Fluid passes through your sleeve in a matter of seconds. I don't think it would be physically possible to fill your sleeve with Fluid, unless you filled it with some food first then drank something before the food had passed through your stomach. There is zero risk in drinking quickly, but many people find it difficult and uncomfortable in the first few weeks post-op due to swelling.

Thank u for letting me know. My doc didn't order a barium swallow post op. I had no idea. I appreciate it!

You can probably find some videos on youtube of other people's tests. It's actually pretty cool to watch!

So after a couple of weeks of weight going up and then steadying, I have lost four pounds this week (on top of losing the 2 I'd gained). Which is great. But, the weird thing is, I have gained THREE inches in my waist during that time. Not TOM because no more TOM, but it seems backward.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
