Prior to surgery, I was a fan of daily Probiotics to keep my GI system happy and immune system hopping .. of course, the crummy diet also played a big part in why my stomach was upset to begin with, but, now that I am 4 months post-op, I have tried adding probiotics back to my regimen with mixed results .. I usually get some nausea after taking them during the course of the day vs. a day when I don't take them .. I wondered if anyone takes them and what your experience has been?

I was required to take a probiotic daily by my nutritionist pre-op and starting again 7 days post-op. I haven't had any problems with them. I take one Insync brand with my morning pills (ppi, birth control, mutlivitamin, and Vitamin C).

My nutritionist has me taking Rainbow Light 50 + mini tablet that is a food based multivitam with a probiotic in it. I was getting an upset stomach with some of the other brands and this one I have had any issues. I take 3 of these a day. (Then my Vitamin D, B12 and Calcium.) I don't need Iron. All my blood work has come back good so now I order these on Amazon.< /p>

I also have made it all winter without a cold or sore throat :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
