Hi.

That knife pain, tell me, is your tongue White in color and looks like a yeasty paste? if so, you have Thrush.

I had this so bad that when I swallowed, It felt like knives going down my throat and into my stomach.

I was on two different types of antibiotics to clear this. I was also out of work for 2 weeks due to this pain.

Hope this helps.

Annamarie

That's doesn't sound normal. Yes you should call your surgeon. Also if you don't already have one ask for a prescription for a PPI.

I was told for the first few days to avoid bevs that were too hot, or too cold, as they can cause cramping.

I am 1 week and 1 day post op and I too have a sharp, the your breath away pain. It only lasts for a few seconds but happens often. I just assumed it was spasms from having hiatal hernia repair.

My pain was terrible. Subsided greatly at two weeks. Try to rest and hang in there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
