Hello All,tongue.gif

My name is Selecia Watson. I am 27 years old. I have no children and I am single. I have been over weight since I can remember. I have always struggled with my weight even though I wasn't made fun of as a child. I was always popular at school and had no problems of doing good. The weight really became a problem for me mentally when I got to college.

I was always trying to go on different diets, the first one I did when I went to college was phentermine with a doctor. I weighed 250lbs. I lost about 30 lbs in 3-5 months but I was only taking in 1000 calories a day including what I drank and exercised about 600 of those calories off each day. As soon as I stopped the weight came back and more.

Once I got out of college I really start to gain more weight, I weighed 281 lbs. I told myself something is got to give so I started doing all kinds of diets, you name I have done it. I got down to my lowest weight ever and that was about 221lbs. I was wearing a size 16. I was happy but I stop dieting and the weight came back and put me at an all time high of 290.

This is when I said enough, I have to find something permanent. I researched the lapband and decided this is what I was going to do. I paid cash since my insurance wouldn't approve me.

I was banded October 6, 2004 in Monterrey, Mexico by Dr. Arturo Rodriguez at San Pedro Hospital Clinic. I wasn't nervous at all. I went by myself from Fort Worth, Texas. I was so excited that I didn't mind going by myself. I went weighing 290lbs. I don't know if I have lost any weight because I decided to weight until my first fill to way myself. My first fill is schedule for November 12th in Arlington, Texas with Dr. Walter Dobson, who was highly recommended by Dr. Rodriguez if I didn't want to come back to Mexico.

I am very excited about this group discussion and hope to learn from all of you.

Hi Selecia, and welcome aboard. You're story is very much like that of so many of us here. This is the best site I've found for information and support. For the most part, unlike certain other boards, this one is pretty impartial, it is not run by a single person who interprets every post and inflicts their personal opinion on it. I've found this to be a site of warm honest support, with opinions and experiences offered to all for education, and consideration, so we are able to make informed personal choices.

Congratulations on your banding, I wish you continued success!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
