3 weeks out today really bummed

Recommended Posts

It's just getting to the point where no matter what I eat, from Protein Shakes to soft scrambled egg. I feel so gross after I eat,I don't want to eat anything. I eat slowly, and the right things but I'm either in the bathroom or I feel like I'm going to foam out and barf. And in the middle it sounds like something is going to pop out of my stomach like in the Alien movie. 3 weeks out I know isn't long but jeez you'd think id be okay for those things. And why does nothing taste the same still? And why do I want fish? I hate fish! Lol....still hanging in. Just wanted to vent. Thanks all

All I wanted was fish, also, kinda weird, huh? If you're having any doubts, call your Dr. Things should be easing up for you any day now...

Just started my 4th week post op and have been able to eat pureed foods. I take all kids of foods and puree them till they are like baby food and then eat with a baby spoon so I don't take large bites and have been able to keep everything down that I have made. That might help you out. I tried to eat a poached egg and it did not sit well but pureed refried Beans do it is so odd. Hope you find something that your are able to eat and keep down.

I am 5 weeks post-op today and felt the same way. I started feeling a bit better a few days ago. It's funny, I always hated fish and I've been craving it now too! What we're going through will pass. Good luck!

I am almost one month out. I am sick of Protein Drinks and puréed foods. yuk!!! I know this too shall pass and I am so proud of my 25 pound weight loss. Just feel sorry for myself sometimes but glad I did the surgery. When I go shopping down the line I will be grinning ear to ear. Let's hang in there together!!!!

25 days out. Supposed to be on puréed/chopped foods. Tried baby food, can't do it, instead I'm just chew chew chewing blandish food. It's true, nothing tastes the same. Starting Friday I can add in "normal" food. I'm sick of the sweet dang shakes. Siddi yogurt while sour takes me 45minutes to eat.

There was a post I read a bit ago about what people were having for dinner this week. It gives me hope. Normal fresh meals are coming. And I too want fish, but I loved it before-a bit scared that I won't like it as much.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
