Dina69 0 Posted June 8, 2007 Hello fellow banders! This will be my first airplane flight since getting the lapband March 26, 2007. I heard that you need to be deflatted before you fly, I asked a friend whom is also banded and she said no, so which is it?? I have only had 2 fills. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! Also, has anyone had any problems getting thru security??Thanks a bunch!!
travelgirl 3 Posted June 8, 2007 No problems getting through security, and you don't need an unfill before flying. If you're still not sure, call your doc! Hope you're flying somewhere fun! Happy Travels!

piercedqt78 658 Posted June 8, 2007 I fly without being unfilled, no problem. I have never been stopped by security either. ~Mandy

beachgirl 2 Posted June 8, 2007 Me either. I just flew to Florida and fly all the time. No problem with security either and I have a neck and back full of metal. Good luck and have fun. Florida is awesome right now. I just got back on Wednesday evening.
Big Wave Dave 0 Posted June 8, 2007 How soon can you drive after being banded?
travelgirl 3 Posted June 8, 2007 How soon can you drive after being banded? In my case, it was left up to me, but make sure you're off your prescription pain meds and that you can twist around to look behind you to back up...
luvinke 0 Posted June 9, 2007 How soon can you drive after being banded? My Dr. said I can drive after I stop with my meds. I do agree that you need to be able to turn around too so that you can see behind you, can't always rely on your mirrors (blind spots).
piercedqt78 658 Posted June 9, 2007 I was told no driving for 7 days. ~Mandy
jazzygirl40 0 Posted June 10, 2007 First of all congratulations on getting banded. I'm getting ready to start the paperwork to go through the process. I work for the City of Ft Worth and they just recently started approving people for weight loss surgery after it being an exclusion on our insurance. I noticed that you are located in Ft Worth and went to Dr Smith. He is one of the doctors on our plan that does the Lap Band surgery. I have heard so many good things about him. So anything you can tell me about your experience so far would be great. You can email me at d.washington40@hotmail.com whenever you get time. Hope you have a great vacation. ppastore 1 Posted June 11, 2010 I, too, am going on a long flight. I just had my first fill yesterday and my doctor said I would be ok, though the nutritionist suggested that I take Protein Powder on the plane in case the food won't go down. In the best of times airplane food doesn't go down very well!! :frown: I wil be as prepared as I can. Fingers crossed!
