Weighting2BeFree 164 Posted March 23, 2015 Hey ladies. I'm 5 days post op and just got my period. Now that may not seem that crazy except i haven't had a period in years. Anyone else experience this?
GeekMomChanging 48 Posted March 23, 2015 I read somewhere that sometimes when you lose belly fat it releases the stored estrogen. Some people have teenage like symptoms such as zits, moodiness and heavy periods.
Tauruslady5 154 Posted March 23, 2015 Lucky you. I have not had one since I was 38 and I will be 50 in May. My doctor even tried to Kick-Start me and it did not work.
AquariusDiva 15 Posted March 23, 2015 I got mine 3 days after surgery ... But it was expected since they recommended to be off the birth control for a month out before surgery. I have heard that your hormones change due to the fluctuations in weight.
foreversleeved08 74 Posted March 23, 2015 TMI but I've been wondering :/ I got my period the day after my surgery, my period has always been light, medium for three days and will then go back to light and finish within 5 days of starting. This time my period is a whole other beast! I have been bleeding very heavily, not soaking per hour, but it is noticeably different, today is day 7 and I'm still bleeding...not as heavy but it's there ????....is this just how things are now until I lose all the weight or is it like a one time thing? This is exactly what happened to me. I haven't had a period that heavy since my teens. And I'm on the pill too. My next period was completely normal for me though, so it seemed like a one-time thing due to the stress to the body after surgery.
AquariusDiva 15 Posted March 23, 2015 I guess I will add that mine was also super heavy and longer lasting than usual. I know I got anti clotting medication after surgery- that might also have something to do with it.

I was also thinking the anti-clotting medicine had something to do with it, but didn't know if I was reaching! Glad I'm not the only one though
mrsmith901 18 Posted March 24, 2015 I got mine the day of surgery after not having it for months. It was horrrrrrrible the first week and a half. I am still bleeding a month later but its light.
foreversleeved08 74 Posted March 24, 2015 Oh my goodness a month later?!? ???? have you talked to your doctor about this, do they have any recommendations or reasons? :/
Riz2006 242 Posted March 24, 2015 I'm terrified of it being heavier! I already have very heavy periods to begin with. Although my period started day before surgery and it was actually really light (compared to normal) which surprised me bc of all the meds!
fit4life123 108 Posted March 27, 2015 Oh my goodness a month later?!? ???? have you talked to your doctor about this, do they have any recommendations or reasons? :/ My doc actually told me that after surgery my period would get heavier. My period was heavy before but the first month out was crazy. My last period(I've had two since surgery) was back to normal. Not overnight heavy but my normal heavy. They said my body is adjusting to changes so my period may change as a result.
KerryRNY04162015 30 Posted March 27, 2015 Following! I have surgery in less than 3 weeks and haven't had a period in years unless I was on the pill. That'd be amazing if it worked that soon. I have other issues such as endometrial cancer thanks to PCOS so having a period would be a blessing for me and hopefully a cure????
