It's going to get easier! I had a horrible recovery took four weeks but I'm doing great now stay positive stay focused and if you become overwhelmed or feelings too much stay in touch with your surgeon. I still six weeks out have not taken all the fluids and Proteins I need to but I do have a steady decrease in weight loss and I'm just starting to exercise. You will get there you will get there in time when your bodies ready

I was sleeved in January . My first week was tough, I wanted real food and I had a hard time getting the fluids in. I wanted a sandwich, lol. At 3 weeks I was able to have soft foods , life got better. Now I eat Protein and I don't miss the other unhealthy foods. It really is a process that starts with the liquids and by the time you reach solid foods, you don't miss the high calorie foods.

I am just 3 days ahead of you and spend my free time on Pinterest looking at different bariatric recipes...most look so yummy and they are making me head hungry...I'm hoping at my 2 week checkup that I can add yogurt and strained cream soups..then week after I can add eggs and cheese...oh how I can't wait. I am getting Water and Protein in..but I'm sick of drinking..I just want flavor and texture..but it's all worth it when I step on the scale.

Have you tried sugar free Popsicles or sf Jello? chicken broth is pretty good too

Head hunger was the bane of my existence while I was in Stage 2!!! It was like Carl's Jr. knew I was on a liquid diet and showed a commercial for the mile high burger every time!!! Then the pizza!!! When I was able to chew something in stage 3, that got better and the head hunger is barely there.

I am 6 days post op, I know it's frustrating watching TV trying to recover and get fluids and Protein .... Then you have commercials 80% are fast food commercial or food related..so I am focused on my liquid diet for the next week and look forward to mushy food.. Just remember baby steps!! we chose this life change! so don't complain like someone forced you to get surgery... Think about the positive and that we will have to struggle a bit..but then the rewards will be worth the wait and effort.. My suggestion is to spend your free time reading and research healthy recipes... Exercise hang at your park or walk the dog... Around your block...Look for moral support....we are here to get passed those hurdles. If your in pain call your surgeon get liquid meds for pain and chewable vitamins....RELAX!!!! breath

Take a deep breath and try to relax. A week out your number one job is to stay hydrated, Most of what you are dealing with is mental. So focus on sipping. Water is best, but really sip on any liquid you like. food will some later. If you are all liquids, adding a small amount (no more than a tbsp) of nut butter may satiate you. Do not rush to get back to your former foods. Reminds yourself it's only temporary. It's hard to see but you'll look back and realize it was just a few days.

Oh my gosh! The Pizza! Is it just me or do you now notice that we are bombarded with pizza everywhere we go? I never realized how much influence pizza has on us until now.

I'm struggling with the head hunger big time. I just keep trying to remember it's not forever, it's just for now.

I think we will always struggle with head hunger, although I admit I never had it worse than when I was on liquids. One day recently I saw a Red Robin commercial, and in my mind I followed through with having a hamburger. I pictured them putting the burger down in front of me, with a beautiful pile of fries. Then I looked at it, cut a tiny piece of the burger, and gave the rest to my husband (still in my mind's eye). Even in my brain I knew there was no way I could eat that!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
