CTDEE 58 Posted March 22, 2015 Some random thoughts... I desperately want to go to the gym. I was always athletic until injury and weight gain sidelined me. I'm soooo ready! I have several brands/flavors of Protein Powder and ready made shakes I no longer like. They are downright disgusting now even though I loved them before. Going to try layering them for new flavors. I was a little down today over liquid Protein only though it was better in the afternoon. Working out would help that but that's still a no no. It snowed here today on the first full day of spring. Couldn't even go for a walk. This hellish winter needs to end NOW! I'm more than bored with the shakes although they are filling. The satiety just isn't there and I miss texture and chewing. My husband has been great but he keeps saying he doesn't understand why people feel I'm fat. He never thought I needed the sleeve but supports me. I love this and hate it at the same time. Why do both the pre-op and post-op diets for docs differ so much? I'm all about letting my sleeve heal and will follow the post-op diet to a t but some are allowed a lot of diversity after one week. I haven't had a full nights sleep since two nights before surgery. Going to try lukewarm chamomile tea tonight. Ok that's it. Just needed to get these thoughts down somewhere. Hope you all have had good days. Tomorrow is the start of a new week and I plan to make the most of it!
cockapoomom 89 Posted March 22, 2015 @@CTDEE I had my surgery 6 days ago. I don't feel well enough to exercise, miss my old energy and am definitely hungry for some diversity in texture of food. My surgeon recommends Clear liquids for 2 weeks straight! Chamomile tea helped me sleep the 2nd night home and was almost ritualistic in preparing it that gave me a sense of calm and peace. Congratulations on your surgery and best of luck during this post-op stage, it's definitely for the birds, though I'm personally shedding a pound per day approximately. JamieLogical 8,722 Posted March 22, 2015 Hang in there. It really does get easier every single day. The Protein shakes definitely get OLD. I counted down the days until I could eat solids (40 days post-op) so I could switch to Protein Bars. I am 6 months post op and just had my first Protein shake since that day last night. I was FINALLY ready to give Protein Shakes a try again after a few months off from them! If you are on full liquids now, try LOTS of varieties of strained cream Soups. They break up the monotony. Once you are allowed soft foods, I highly recommend Shelly's Baked Ricotta (google the recipe).
CTDEE 58 Posted March 22, 2015 I decided to make my own broths today. I think the process of cooking will help a bit. Plus I can make it low sodium. I've got beef bones in one pan and chicken bones in another. I think these will be more satisfying than just opening a box.

JLMET 40 Posted March 28, 2015 I'm about 8 days post-op and I miss solid food too! I can start doing "Stage 2" now which means more pureed foods and creamed Soups so I'm pretty excited for that. I cannot wait for Stage 3 when my doc says I can have an egg or tuna fish! I don't crave junk food at all (which is a relief), I just miss the act of chewing food. But I am so glad i did the surgery and am lucky to have a partner who is 100% supportive (he'll be getting his sleeve in a month or two). Hang in there everyone, we can do it! emalou47 29 Posted March 29, 2015 I am the same I am going into stage 2 and I am missing the act of chewing food. My partner will eat a salad and I find myself feeling jealous. Whilst I know I am doing this for the right reasons and to improve my life I am just missing certain things
CTDEE 58 Posted March 30, 2015 Boy it's strange reading those thoughts. I'm 2 weeks now and cleared for soft foods and purees. Whole mood was lifted at that point. Two more weeks and I can try solids. All I can say is hang in there! Still no regular sleep but it's getting better.
