4 weeks out, tried some regular food

Recommended Posts

I have been on the mushy stage for about 2 weeks so today I tried some regular food. Here's what I had and how it went:

~1-1.5 oz roasted chicken

2 maybe three green beens

a very small portion of green salad

about 4 small slices of roasted potato

A couple hours earlier I had about a cup of guacamole, no chips

It went quite well, but I was not able to eat much all, which is fine. I mean that's the point, right? I had no issues with anything. I didn't eat till I was full, I ate until I was satisfied. I get a very slight pressure sensation in my esophogus when I've had enough. I pay attention to it and stop.

Just wanted to share this with you all, especially those who are new. There is life on the other side of the liquid/mushy stages. Stick with to and you'll get there

Cheers

@@Bruce Peter You are so lucky! I'm still on Clear liquids and dreaming of anything, even blended mushy foods at this point.

Congrats!

Solids at 4 weeks seems pretty early, but I guess every plan is different. I'm pretty impressed you got veggies in there already. I'm over 6 months out and still can't figure out how to get veggies in without sacrificing Protein.< /p>

I didn't get much veggie matter in. Two Beans and about 2 TBSP of green salad. Avacado is a mushy food.

I was able to move into soft foods as well in weeks 4 to 6. Although when I have a lean Protein like chicken I try to eat 3 to 4 ounces. Depending on what else I'm having with it. I'm not able to eat salads until the next phase only soft veggies

I am seven months post op and at goal. We had baked chicken last night and I can still only eat two ounces. Which I think is a good thing. However..... I was at goal 9 pounds ago. I am trying to figure out how to eat enough to stop losing without over eating or eating the wrong things.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
