This help feel better! I had surgery Monday 3/16 and I'm little miserable! I can't get enough nutrients down. And feeling weak, still gas on me. I walk 15 every 2 hrs. I'm on the regret stage right now. I'm hungry and just want to eat something good! I need some encouraging words, from people who been there and please tell it gets better.

Yes, yes, yes! I can't tell you how much I thought the very same thing. I'm almost two months post op and feeling just fine.

You should start feeling more "normal" about the second week.

I'm going to tell you what my friends told me. "Hang in there"! :-)

I am only a couple of days ahead of you foodfighter and I can say just get over that hump! I am looking forward to this Thursday when I meet with the NUT and go to the next stage which includes eggs, cottage cheese, tuna, etc and I can't wait. I am not really hungry-just looking to get a variety of choices.

Hang in there and together (via this board of support) we will get there!

I'm sorry you are having troubles. I had surgery on the 12th and ended up with a collapsed lung plugged with Fluid. I'm still in the hospital. Things will get better. Try gas x for the gas pain. Try sipping Water from small cups and see if that helps. I had the same problem with gas but, by day 3 I was burping and passing gas which helped. Also make sure you rest! Good luck to you.

I'm sorry you had complications. Hopefully you can feel better soon and go home.

It does get better! I'm 9 weeks out. Try not to focus on taste, just get the nutrients in you. Things that worked for me was sf chocolate pudding with unflavored Protein. Cream of Tomato Soup, popsicles, cream of rice cooked in chicken broth and unflavored Protein Powder. Dannon fit and light yogurt only the toasted coconut and vanilla flavor. I made shrimp bisque Soup strained....Then the ricotta cheese bake with pesto when I went to soft foods....Keep walking, although at that stage I would get worn out. I liked the chewable gas x.....Hang in there, you got this!!! :-) :-) :-) :-)

I also had surgery on 3/16. And I had the same kind of day yesterday that you are having! I wasn't losing anything on the scale and my family was eating awesome food around me. I was regretting my surgery decision. I just wanted to put the food in my mouth for the taste then spit it out. I talked myself out if it.

It WILL get better I promise. I keep repeating what my doctors motto is... "I'm not saying it's going to be easy, I'm saying it's going to be WORTH IT". I repeat that to myself 100x a day and it gets me through. I feel like crap less and less everyday and we are inching closer to the stage where we can get away from the Clear Liquids and add yogurt, thick Protein Shakes and creamed Soups. Yay!!!! I am with you on this ( we are surgery twins). I can't tell you how to feel your feelings are yours but I can tell you that you have support to get you to your goal. I don't know what I would have done without this app. It has gotten me thru so many hurtles. Hang in there!

Thank you all for your response. I'm feeling better today. I stop taking pain med. since yesterday I think they made me drowsy. I have little pain in my incision but I'm going to ensure without pain meds. I hate that drowsy, sleepy feeling. I'm going to look at all the positive things: I AM ALIVE, yes that was my major worry if I didn't make it safe from surgery. I don't have any complications, I have a wonderful husband who has been an amazing help and support. I think I'm already loosing weight. ( my scale is not working) lol

All the little uncomfortable things will go away with time and I'll gain so much more!

I can't really add any more to what the others have said, but I can give you encouragement. I remember thinking, "What have I done?" I remember those moments worrying what if it never gets any better than this. However, I am happy to report that it does. I am 7 weeks out and feel completely normal. I am starting to have days where if it were not for "planning" my food, I would never have known I had surgery. I am still limited in my food choices; but as long as I plan our meals, I can sit down with my family and eat most of what I fix for them.

So - keep putting one foot in front of the other, keep getting in your Protein and Water, keep moving and look forward to those milestones where you can add food items to your diet and search for recipes that you can make and look forward to at that stage. It is worth it. I already have lowered my BP meds twice and am totally off metformin. Keep going - you can do it!

I had revision surgery on March 16 as well, i feel you're pain. I keep seeing everything happy at the dinner table while I am left to the side hungry with a bowl of cream of wheat.

I hope you feel better. I wish I could have cream of wheat. I don't understand why every doctor has a different preop and post op diet! Should all be the same right?

I actually made homemade chicken Soup and smash a little carrot and eat if I did fine. I'm going to my dr on Thursday and should start purée stage. Will see.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
