OFFICIAL: March 25th Surgery Date

Recommended Posts

Finally. I'm sleeved. I spent the last day in pain from gas. It's the worst ever. I do feel better today. Now, I want to sip but it hurts and everything wants to come back up. Any suggestions.?

I hope all the other 3/25 sleeves are doing well.

MoJo are you taking narcotic pain meds? I found that my nausea resolved and I was able to tolerate my liquids much better once I was off the narcotics. They switched me to something called Toradol ( or something like that) that is basically liquid advil.

They had me wear a patch the night before and take a pill 3 hours before my surgery to prevent nausea, it seems to have works as I haven't experienced any. This seems to allow me to take in fluids while on the narcotics to keep the pain down. You may want to contact your Dr to see if you can get something for the nausea so you can get you fluids in, they are very important.

3/4 way thru a Blue Raspberry Isopure today, I am finding my limits on how much I can take in, only takes a couple time of pain to tell me to slow down.

The surgical nurse just contacted me following up on my progress, she said the painful incision on my right side was where my stomach was removed thru and that is why it was more tender. I have a little redness around the lower right incision, she said to watch it to see if it get any more pronounced or if any of the incision start to drain. So far so good.

@@JRfishes sounds like you're doing a better job of getting your liquids in than me. I've only had 12oz so far of the 40 they want me to get in.

And good to know about that incision!

Slow and steady, small sips more often allow me to do better than larger sips. Using a 2 oz shot glass and taking several sips to finish it.

Keeping my meds up also helps, last night I fell behind , experienced more pain and had trouble getting them in.

I think my issue is that I'm not hungry at all so I'm not thinking of eating or drinking.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
