When should I take my vitamins?

Recommended Posts

Ok so today I am 10 days post op, VGS, and doc says time to start my Vitamins. I took all of them when I woke up this morning with a Protein Shake. I don't know if taking all of them at once kinda over loaded my stomach, but I got a little nauseas. I thought that since they are all chewable it would be ok. Do I need to maybe drink a shake first THEN take them? Or take on a empty stomach? How do you guys regimen your vitamins?

I was just so excited to finally get something that would give me a little more energy, I didn't even stop to think HOW I should be doing it. I've been on only liquids for 3 weeks now and I know my body needs vitamins. But if I get sick every time.. Well that's just gonna suck! Lol Any advice?

Hi @@newrose2427! I was sleeved in January and per my instructions I was told to not take the Calcium with the Multivitamins. I have a follow up appointment this Wednesday to clarify the wait time between each dose, but per my notes I was told to take the Multivitamins (I do 2 Flintstones), then wait either 2 or 4 hours (this I need to clarify) and take my first Calcium dose - for me this is 2 Calcium pills that I have to split because they are large, then 4 hours later take the 2nd Calcium dose. I take this with whatever I am drinking - Water, G2, Crystal Light, etc.

Good luck!!

My simple solution:

After Breakfast, multi, D3, E, Biotin, B12. Mid-morning "cocktail" (mix cold Water with 1 scoop unflavored Protein powder, water-enhancer drops, powdered calcium citrate, Benefiber).

Lunch; Iron.

Afternoon or evening "cocktail", minus the Benefiber.

Dinner; Biotin.< /p>

All done, all absorbed, no negative interactions between the conflicting vitamins! If you need to, to help remember, get a pill dispenser at the pharmacy that has differing times on it, that helps a lot.

You cannot take Calcium and a multi or Iron together. Iron & calcium together cancel each other out. You gave to separate by at least 2 hours. Even if you aren't taking a separate iron pill, most multi have iron in them.

I do multi AM/PM 8am/11pm

Calcium mid morning and late afternoon 11am -ish & 3/4 ish

I also take Biotin AM/PM

Once a week I take sublingual B12, typically around noon

You only have to separate your multi and Calcium by 2 hours if your multi has Iron.

Always take them after, or during a meal. Vitamins can make you sick when taken on an empty stomach, even if you haven't been sleeved.

Check the labels on your multi's. Most contain Iron. Iron and Calcium need to be separated by 2 hours or they cancel each other out.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
