Hi All,

I'm finally stepping up from purees on to solids. I do find that I'm probably eating too fast though after eating about 2-3oz I start to feel sickly full. I don't throw up but just feel very full. And lately started getting slight pain on my right side after meals. I know I need to slow down with my meals for sure. Anyone else had this problem of getting too full too fast? Should I be concerned about the pain on the right side? Thanks

Try using the Eat Slower app. It's free for either iOS or Android, and you can set it for whatever interval works for you. I set it for 45 seconds between bites. Another thing that helped me was to make sure I was always focused on my eating -- only eat sitting down, no watching tv, texting, web surfing, etc. So I could pay full attention to what my body was saying about food.< /p>

And you may just want to scale back how much you are eating as a general rule. I couldn't eat 3 ounces of soft solids until I was over 6 months out.

Good luck to you!

it took me several wks to "realize" my full point or actually "comfortable" point. then stop. I had to put my fork down chew chew chew and then "get a sense" of how my tummy was literally feeling. I am 8 months PO and still go through this routine. usually I am safe with less then 6 small bites at a sitting. for the first 3 or 4 months I only got in 3 or 4 bites. take your time. I went through several meals where I over did it also boy was it uncomfortable!! I never have threw up but I sure fought it a time or 2! its a learning process...slow down! do the take a bite and put utensil down...that was the habit I stick with..:)

I'm 3 weeks post op and I take in about 3 tablespoons of food for a meal so I make it count. I did notice my last bite seems to come just before that full feeling (sometimes pain) so I try to go a little slower knowing my limit of 3 spoons.

Thanks everyone! Great suggestions. I don't go by tablespoons but I weigh everything and I can do about 1-2 oz comfortably, at least that's what I'm starting to figure out :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
