Is my band too tight?

Recommended Posts

I am a mess. hehehe.

I had my band placed Dec 2005 with my first fill March 2006. I never went back to my surgeon, I was not happy with him. I went recently to a new surgeon and received a 2 cc fill. Now, my first fill, I am not sure what he did...I believe .8cc and afterwards I was fine. This fill, I think I am too tight. 5 weeks post fill and I cannot eat more than yougart, ricotta cheese, strained Soups. I cannot eat peas, tuna, eggs or its back up. Because its been so long on this liquid only, I treated myself today to a chocolate shake!!! YIKES!!!!!!!! Cannot do THAT!!!!! But I was having a pitty party!! :hungry:

I hate to get have fliud removed, so I will deal with what I have. I see the surgeon in about 3 weeks. I just want to know what you here think. I saw on another board different opinions that I didn't agree with. From what I am seeing here, I am in agreement with responses I am seeing posted here.

Thank you for your help!! :faint:

It does sound like you are too tight. The idea of the band is that you are able to eat real food, just not much of it. If you are only able to eat mushies, or liquids, then something is wrong. I would definately get a slight un-fill if it were me. And don't beat yourself up about having a pity party and a chocolate shake--we all do that from time to time!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
