Young Gastric Sleeve Patients

Recommended Posts

Hi I'm Kayla. I'm 22 years old, 340lbs and my surgery is schedule for April 15th 2015. The clinic that I'm having my surgery done with doesn't have ANYONE who is around my age that is going through or has gone through this process. I just wondered if there are any young adults that have any advise. How did it go for you? Did you tell your friends? Was it hard to adjust back into the "young adult/college life"?? Any info would be great!! :)

I'm 22!!! Congrats on your upcoming surgery!

My starting weight before surgery was 307, but my weight on the day of surgery was 270! First and foremost, GAS X, walking, and if you're in pain let them know! Also Water is the most important thing to get into your body post op! Seriously, dehydration is not fun. Its just as important as reaching your Protein goals. (You will work up to 64 ounces a day of Water and meeting your Protein goals).

I told my immediate family about the procedure and while I will eventually tell my bff she has a habit of not being able to hold water. *If you catch my meaning* I'm not quite ready for the world to know all my business.

Surgery was pretty straightforward. It felt like I had a really rough day of ab work at the gym, lol. The first month was the hardest for me though. (After discharge my diet was pureed food) It was hard and tedious but doable.

Second, the young adult college life thing...as of right now, not much has changed. At least not that I've noticed. Of course people who see me regularly noticed but to strangers I'm just some woman.

Though I did have a guy say hi to me and was interested in talking when I was going into the gym but I completely blew him off because I didn't realize he was talking to me! (Epic fail! He was cute too)

That was definitely a first for me. I never had someone close to my age actually try to approach me. I'm used to old pervy men.

Of course I'm still early post op so this could change but for right now its pretty much the same as before surgery except I'm healthier, happier, and stronger.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
