Anyone else having to fight " mind hunger"

Recommended Posts

I'm never hungry, tell my brain that. The mind hi get takes over all the time. It makes me so depressed that I am losing the battle and give in half the time.

Is that something veterans dealt with early out? And somehow won the war on?

I get bouts of head hunger, I've found that mine usually happen when I've eaten things like Pasta, rice, or things like donuts during the day or the previous day.

I fight head hunger by eating pure Protein - chicken, beef, or pork. I fill up on Protein, and then if I still "have to have" carbs, I am satisfied with just a few bites.

I have to be very careful of how much and what type of carbs I eat, even at 2 years post-op.

I am having it just 3 and a half weeks out.

Funny thing is I am craving foods I do not eat much of during the year. For instanct, right now something I am dieing to have is Boudin. I might of eaten it 3 or 4 times a year, now its all I want lol.

I just try to enjoy what I do eat.....It's funny how much power the mind really has

I have head hunger all the time. I too crave food I haven't eaten in a long time. That really baffles me. I have given in a couple of times and eaten the food I was craving. I find that the actual eating of the food is anticlimactic. I didn't get such a rush from it that I thought i would.

Now I know that what is going to make me feel great is if I go through the day sticking with my program. When it gets to late evening and I add up the calories and Protein in my food journal...I get to draw a happy face next to the total. Day after day of drawing happy faces is going to get me where I want to be.

I wasn't hungry (head or otherwise) for the first 3-4 months. Then I started enjoying eating again, but had no cravings or head hunger issues. By 10 months, my old hunger and cravings were starting to make appearances. At 15 months out I fight my head hunger every day. I'd say I'm successful at winning the battles 80% of the time.

Glad I'm not the only one that fights "head hunger". It is a struggle at times. I keep a food journal & it helps to keep me on track. On days when I have to many calories & carbs I just get right back on the program the next day. The worse thing a person can do is beat themselves up. I also watch "My 600 lb Life". That gives me a lot to think about.

I didn't really start experiencing head hunger until about four months after surgery. The head hunger isn't nearly as strong as it was pre-op, but I do find myself wanting to graze more when I'm idle than I did four months ago. Even though I'm eating no more than 4-4.5 ounces per meal, it's very easy to eat again every 30-45 minutes, so I do limit myself to eating roughly every 2 hours.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
