This New Kim 13 Posted March 20, 2015 Hello ladies, So I had my surgery on the 9th of this month and I just got my period yesterday, but it's weird. The blood is a dark brown, kind of like the blood at the end of a period, and it's still that way today. The next part may be too TMI for some: anyway, I had a blood clot that was a normal size but it was very dark as well and kind of shriveled looking? It was odd. Nothing hurts or anything and I called my weight loss doctor who said it sounds normal, but if any symptoms come up to call my ob/gyn, but it's kind of creeping me out and I wanted to know if anyone has had anything similar. I was diagnosed with PCOS a while before surgery so I don't know if it's related, and I was having irregular periods that were being regulated with medicine that I've been off for quite some time now, so that could be related as well. But yeah, just curious if anyone has any insights.
Elode 8,093 Posted March 24, 2015 Wls does some crazy things to your hormones..it can defiantly mess with your periods.
Stephanie Stroup McIntosh 157 Posted April 7, 2015 I also have PCOS and have only gotten a period while on BC. Guess what...2 weeks post op and now I got my period on my own. I have been off BC for almost 3 months. It just started today, but did look a little different than normal. Its from the rapid weight loss and all the crazy hormones. This New Kim 13 Posted April 7, 2015 I'm still on my period, and it looks more normal now..but it's still going. :/ I know the doctor said my body will be releasing a lot of estrogen as it burns through the fat and that things would be weird. I just hope it ends and normalizes soon.
kcadoret 81 Posted April 9, 2015 I hear ya @@This New Kim! My period won't quit! I've been on bcp for 12 years and for the first time ever got it a week early while doing my pre op liquid diet. I got it again a week later (a few days post op) and it's going on two weeks! Not entirely ecstatic about this hormone/period side effect of rapid weight loss
angelface811 100 Posted April 12, 2015 I also noticed a change in my cycle. First irregular bleeding and while I was on a predictable 28 day cycle it changed for a few months. The cycle was about every 22 days. Now every 26 days. I have a period tracking app that I utilize. I had heavy periods before and continue to have heavy periods. Possible oblation in my future. I am only 38 but started my cycle at 9.
