Recommended Posts

Hi I am 6 weeks out and I have dropped 45+ lbs. I am not eating well, not that I don't want to I just can't keep too many things down. I have heartburn all the time. I wake up most morning nauseated and feel like I have to vomit. This recovery is so hard for me I feel malnourished. What am I supposed to do. Please help

9 weeks out and having nausea too, mostly morning time, I have to force myself to eat and I can keep it down. I got a script for nausea meds from my surgeon but that's all.

Talk to your surgeon -- if your surgeon isn't local, talk to your PCP.

Call your doctor. You probably need a good PPI and possibly something for nausea.

@@JamieLogical I have a prescription for the heartburn. @@downsizingdiva I am on nausea meds as well. I am at the point where I am tired, I had the lapband originally and I had to have a revision to the sleeve and I am in suffer mode

Well if the heartburn and nausea are still terrible even on your meds, I would definitely talk to your surgeon.

I'm 3 weeks out and feel worse than I did the first week.I'm trying to keep my Water going. I can usually keep food down but keeping it in is another story and Protein is so hard on my stomach. Vitamins bother me, my bp meds bother me, my pain and sleep meds make me so nauseated. I can't put anything in without running to the bathroom. Then of course it counteracts the water situation. I wish it would get better soon

Yes she said I was having a problem with whey protein/artificial sweeteners and to try to get it naturally it's better than it was but some things just set me off. Especially my meds. I have to drive my son to work so I can't take them till late and I have to sit upfor at least an hour. food wise I'm finding my tummy is handling refried Beans and some shredded cheese. Fairly well. At least it's got Protein. I have an appt next week so we well revisit it then. I've always had stomach issues. I kinda knew this was gonna be harderthan I wanted it to.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
