ajones3300 10 Posted March 20, 2015 Hello All, I am having VSG done by Dr. Rod on April 16, 2015 at StarMedica Hospital. I am putting together a packet of info for my family. There are many and hard to get all together at the same time. They are going to be difficult to convince that this is a good idea. I am completely comfortable with my decision and I would like them to be as well. I would love to have some testimonials from past patients of his to add to the packet. Tell it all - Good or Bad. Thanks in advance for the help. Annette
Peppa 0 Posted March 20, 2015 Hi I just got back from Juarez Mexico after having a gastric sleeve done on March 17. My honest opinion is the following: dr Calderon was in contact with us since we left our home town, for me it was a 5 hour drive. As soon as we arrived to El Paso we left our vehicle at tha long term parking at the airport and 10 minutes after we arrived transportation van picked us up and drove us to star medica. As soon as we got there , dr Calderon was waiting for us ,after I registered in we went to have a light meal. The next morning dr Rodriguez showed up and introduced himself and asked if I had any questions and also the anesthesiologist showed up and told me exactly what her role was during the procedure. The hospital was very nice and clean with up to day equipment, I say this because I'm currently a RN and to me it looked much better than some of the hospitals here in USA. As for the staff they were wonderful, I cannot tell you if the spoke English or not because I'm Hispanic and fluent in Spanish. As of right know I don't have any regrets at all. Peppa 0 Posted March 21, 2015 Hi, I feel much better today, really no pain at all only slight soreness on incision sites. As far as Fluid intake I think I'm able to drink a little more today. The first two days I was not really able to drink much, but today I'm drinking more , and it seems that im able to tolerate fluids better.
vsgSarah3 351 Posted March 21, 2015 I'm here now, I fly home tomorrow. The process has been easy. The nurses don't speak English but if you have a language translator app on your phone you will be fine. I'm here with my husband and he has been a great support person. The first night I was throwing up dark old blood but this has gotten better today ( knock on wood!) I feel better and the staff and Drs. Have been great. ajones3300 10 Posted March 22, 2015 @@Peppa Glad you are still feeling well. Keep me posted on your progress. I am excited to get my journey started. @@vsgSarah3 I had read a bit about the possibility of vomiting old blood. I hope this has resolved itself and you feel better. I took a year of Spanish in high school but that was back when they used stone tablets for books so I don't remember much. I do know how to ask for beer though. Unfortunately I won't be able to have any of that.
