Oh so true!! I keep checking for spills on my chest and I just don't have them anymore- used to be just about every meal.

LOL!! this is so true! I still have a hard time not going to the plus sized section of a store - old habits die hard - i picked up a shirt the other day and it was a size 4x and i thought it was a pretty top - i started to put it in my buggy and my husband took it out of my hand and just looked at me like REALLY?! it took me a minute for it to sink in LOL! But it is a great feeling when it does...

the water/restaurant one cracked me up. I never really drank and ate at the same time which has often baffled people, and all the more so post-op. I learned a long time ago to just place my hand over the glass when the server comes around so that they don't keep asking me over and over if I need something else.

Very true – thanks for the list! How about, “When someone asks you how long you’re going to keep dieting, your answer is, ‘the rest of my life.’”

OMG !

WHY, OH WHY didn't I have this surgery sooner? Stupid fear and self hate. The notion that I should be able to lose the weight on my own really had me hostage. Hello, I could not. I sure tried, hundreds of times. But I do tell you something, it wasn't all self control because now I am not hungry all the time and I do have self control. If this is the way everyone else feels about food no wonder I could have never made it on my own.

Every one is on point! I have waiters bring me Water just so I don't have to try to explain that I don't want anything to drink. My kids or boyfriend just trade their empties out with me when they need a refill.

One more to add: When you get tired of looking for a light, interesting magazine for a quick read because all the headlines are the latest "drop 10 pound" diets and you're not interested.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
