I started my two week liquid diet yesterday and have been trying to keep myself busy ( I don't work and I'm taking time off of school at the time). Any ideas?

Walking and hiking will keep you outdoors and engaged. Do you have a garden? There's a lot to do at this time of year. (We're already having warm spring days in California.) For indoors - how about crafts, such as knitting, crocheting or sewing? If you don't know how to sew, it might be a good idea to learn. You will be needing to take in a lot of clothes over the next few months!

I like to read. Others suggestions I've heard are: walk, garden, library, rent DVD series, movie (yikes popcorn) volunteer, ....

Often I think our world is so food oriented it is difficult to get away from.

We have a hot /cold tub /sauna rental place about an hour away. No food allowed. When I can treat myself, I go there and when I can also throw in a massage.... It is wonderful and feels like I fill myself up with care!

Good wishes????

@@jrquinter good luck to you! This is the real test right here! I started mine on the 18th and I have really been struggling! Everyone says day 4 is the turning point and it will get better from here and after surgery we will have no issues because doing all liquids will be second nature to us!

Today Is Day 6 for me. No Turning Point yet. I can't sleep been up all night. Miserable. Not hungry, just highly agitated, weak and sickened by everything I have to consume. I am not a sweets eater and I am so sick of cold sweet foods! Low Sodium broth is all I have but even that has 430 mg of sodium and I retain Fluid so not supposed to eat high sodium foods. Also allergic to iodine and something's breaking me out! Sea salt? Can't have that. Or is it the soy in all these Protein Shakes?

Exercise. I was actually in the middle of Water aerobics when it dawned on me that one of the moves we do often may have strengthened the muscles in abdominal area and possibly have been why I had no pain post op.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
