I have been having a really hard time getting Protein in. I usually drink the Premier shakes but I cannot finish any of them. I tried putting unflavored whey protein podwer in my Jello and Soups but it tastes so bad to me. I recently tried making smoothies too but didn't work. I also noticed its giving me this nasty phlem after i eat it. I wonder if i should try rice protein or soy :/

any one else having this issue ?

I was having an issue too getting enough Protein. I just can't do a 4 oz shake. So I got these Protein Shots from a Vitamin shop. It has 42 grams of protein, 0 sugar, low carb, and it is only 3.8 oz. Still almost 4 oz but I'm getting triple the protein I was getting. Also, Unjury, makes a Protein Powder u add to what ever you want. I got the chicken noodle flavor and add to my broth.< /p>

I wish you well! Good luck!

What kind of protein is in the shots? I've been told that our bodies only absorb certain kinds of protein well, but these sound interesting.

How far along are you?

What brand of unflavoured whey did you use and how did you mix it in?

How did you make your smoothies and why did they work?

Phlem after you eat is typically a sign of eating/drinking too fast. Rice protein doesn't have enough nutrients. You could try soy but it needs to be soy isolates, not concentrate.

Here's my "cocktail" for Protein, since I hate the shakes. Get a large glass of cold Water, add however many drops of Water Enhancer to your liking, add the unflavored protein powder and mix well. If you want, add calcium citrate powder for your half-daily dose of Calcium (you will have to stir periodically to keep it mixed), then you can also add Benefiber to keep things "moving". I have this twice a day for the basics of protein, another for extra, if I feel I need it. There are so many flavors of drops out there, even some that aren't sweet. You can mix the flavors together for more variety. Good luck to you!

The Protein Shots are 42g of Protein , it's whey protein. They have fruit punch, sour apple, raspberry, orange. They are sugar free, 2 carbs, 180 calories.

The Unjury protein powder is added to hot broth or Soup. You can get unflavored or chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and chicken noodle. The are other items as well. Unjury.com.

I am on day 8 post op today. So I'm not on smoothies yet, still Clear Liquids. But u can add that unjury to smoothies. I have had no real complications other than nausea from too much Fluid too fast. Lost 8# in a week:-) first time ever for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
