4 months post op..advice?

Recommended Posts

I am 4 months post op today. Started at 289 and am now 222 at 5'3". I've had a plateau at 2 weeks and 3 months but only lasted a week. I have now not lost any weight the last 2 weeks. I've bumped up my Protein and am taking in enough but not to many calories. I am happy for my loss so far but am so discouraged by this long stall and am finding ways to blame myself. Anyone else experience this?

Yes. I definately have periods where my body rests in between losing. The longest was 3 weeks. If you stay the course and follow the plan your body will start releasing weight again. Also I think the closer we get to a good weight the more things simply slow down. At least that is what I hear others saying.

The key is to stay on the plan and follow the rules, if we do that I am certain the scale will start to move. I just finished a 10 day stall and in the last couple days the scale has started to move.

Good luck!

I had a stall at around 3 months, the answer for me was to slightly increase my calories. As I lost weight I was able to increase my activity and I found that my body needed an uptake in calories. I increased from 1200 to about 1500 and that did the trick.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
