Hello everyone please help me understand what is going on. I had a revision from the gastric sleeve to a gastric bypass on February 5th. I've had no problems or issues at all ( which I'm grateful for) but it makes me wonder if they really did the bypass I know it sounds crazy but it goes through my mind. I can eat or drink anything and not get sick at all. The only thing is my reflux has gotten worse not better like they say it does. I'm so confused ???? idk what is going on with my body. Has anyone had this same experience? Please help!!

I understand where you are coming from...On Feb 16th I had a revision as well for a gastric bypass that I had done back in 2003. It the same thing goes thru my mind as well at times...But I cant eat everything...cause I can feel it....Hope this helps you out some cause I am sure you are not alone when it comes to this...

I had RNY and can eat anything I want without getting sick. Just because I can doesn't mean I should. I would not worry about whether or not they actually performed the bypass however I would call your surgeon to find out what is going on with the reflux. I had one of the most severe cases my enterologist has seen and I am now post op almost 6 months. I have not had one incident where I have reflux. It cured for me and I take no medication to prevent it either.

I would definately ask what the heck is going on with that situation. I am guessing you had the revision because of the reflux.

I had the revision to the bypass cuz I wanted to lose more weight I had the sleeve two years ago and lost 80 pounds. But I still have more to lose. I've always had reflux since I was a teenager I take prescription meds and now since the bypass I take over the counter meds too. This is the worst I've ever had. I talked to my surgeon and they say it'll get better but it's not so far.

Honestly- there has been a time or two that I felt like that too. I'm 3 weeks post op... I'm down 25 lbs and the scale hasn't moved in a week. I was even dehydrated and sick earlier this week too I am back to drinking my Water and getting my Protein in and went to the gym today. But last week I felt like I could eat whatever I wanted. But it's not true!!

I had a lot of pain when I tried to eat a piece of chicken and learned VERY fast that I do have a small pouch and it was too soon to try meat. I felt my food digesting at it hurt. I went back to Soups and refried Beans and take my time when I eat.

Good luck! ????

Hello Blondie311, I had a sleeve to bypass on Feb. 3. I had my revision to help with my reflux and it has taken it away. That being said please call your doctor your reflux should not be getting worst.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
