blondie311 1 Posted March 18, 2015 Hello everyone please help me understand what is going on. I had a revision from the gastric sleeve to a gastric bypass on February 5th. I've had no problems or issues at all ( which I'm grateful for) but it makes me wonder if they really did the bypass I know it sounds crazy but it goes through my mind. I can eat or drink anything and not get sick at all. The only thing is my reflux has gotten worse not better like they say it does. I'm so confused ???? idk what is going on with my body. Has anyone had this same experience? Please help!!

Djmohr 6,965 Posted March 19, 2015 I had RNY and can eat anything I want without getting sick. Just because I can doesn't mean I should. I would not worry about whether or not they actually performed the bypass however I would call your surgeon to find out what is going on with the reflux. I had one of the most severe cases my enterologist has seen and I am now post op almost 6 months. I have not had one incident where I have reflux. It cured for me and I take no medication to prevent it either. I would definately ask what the heck is going on with that situation. I am guessing you had the revision because of the reflux. blondie311 1 Posted March 19, 2015 I had the revision to the bypass cuz I wanted to lose more weight I had the sleeve two years ago and lost 80 pounds. But I still have more to lose. I've always had reflux since I was a teenager I take prescription meds and now since the bypass I take over the counter meds too. This is the worst I've ever had. I talked to my surgeon and they say it'll get better but it's not so far.
starbuckscoffeegal 36 Posted March 19, 2015 Honestly- there has been a time or two that I felt like that too. I'm 3 weeks post op... I'm down 25 lbs and the scale hasn't moved in a week. I was even dehydrated and sick earlier this week too I am back to drinking my Water and getting my Protein in and went to the gym today. But last week I felt like I could eat whatever I wanted. But it's not true!! I had a lot of pain when I tried to eat a piece of chicken and learned VERY fast that I do have a small pouch and it was too soon to try meat. I felt my food digesting at it hurt. I went back to Soups and refried Beans and take my time when I eat. Good luck! ????
