No post op weigh loss

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am new to this forum. I am 2 weeks post op. HW was 241.5. Was on 2 week liquid diet and surgery weight was 229. Lost the Fluid post surgery, and have been at 224.5 for 2 weeks. Saw nutritionist, eating on target with Protein, fluids, and calories. Feeling frustrated that this is not working for me. Please share your thoughts.

frustrated this is not working for me.

@

Welcome Welcome Welcome to the board

I can only imagine your frustration

but the sleeve is working for you, really

just at its own rate

losing over 10 lbs pre-op is terrific :)

i can only imagine your present frustration

you are following plan, doing everything right, saw your NUT too

does your NUT have you on Clear liquids, full liquids

you are consuming so few calories

the weight WILL come off

keep doing what you are doing

kindof lame expression, but

"God Grant Me Patience, Just Hurry Up About It"

"try" not to be upset (easier said than done :( )

doesn't help youcan't help

will maybe/probably depress you :(

things should get better

hopefully sooner than later

good luck bud

kathy

I'm with ProudGrammy (always am!!!), you will see results. Start taking measurements, especially when the scale won't give you positive results, you'll be surprised at what you see! You are still holding fluids from the surgery, it takes awhile to get rid of it all. Just make sure to follow all the rules, they are there for a reason.

thank you all. I am grateful for your feedback and support. proudgrammy your results are amazing. hope to even come close. called my bariatric doc today to speak with their PA. hope to get some feedback from her too. I sometimes wonder if all the ups and downs over the years have gotten me to a place where my body is not responding to an 800-1000 calorie Protein mostly diet. not sure. well I got the sleeve so no turning back now. hope to feel grateful and provide support for others soon.

You case is not unusual. In fact if you did a search on the forums for "stalls", "plateaus", "surgery fail", "no weigh loss" or any other variation you would find many posts citing similar experiences. You just had major surgery and you body is re-calibrating and adjusting to multiple changes. The weight will indeed come off. Be patient. Follow you program. Protein first, then veg. and get in all your fluids/water. Exercise or at least walk for 30 minutes a day. Pretty much everyone here has gone through a zillion and one fad diets, gaining an regaining.

Welcome to the forums.

Thank you so much blerdgirl!!! Your response was so helpful and offered lots of hope. Thank you. I sometimes think I will be that one person this does not work for, but I forget that some many of us have similar loss and gain histories. I will keep on keeping on with the clean eating and exercise and Water ofcourse. :)

Today seems to be my day for posting this over and over, but many new post-ops appear to be stalling at the moment. So, while you may be early....

Congratulations! You have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or even longer. But don't worry – after that, the pounds will start falling off if you stick to your program. And, the inches will continue to come off even while the scale isn't budging. Here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again!

(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
